COVER BAND: Recently I was invited to go and see a cover band at a local pub. Knowing they were a cover band, I was not expecting too much, and when I saw the five piece male band, ages ranging from thirties to early forties, I respectfully expected a John Denver/Donovan evening.
But boy, could they rock! Covering songs from Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles to name just a few, they enlivened and electrified what would otherwise have been an ordinary night at the pub.
DRIFTWOOD have been together for a year and a half, but only started gigging a year ago. They work well together. They have a charismatic bond between them, which is conveyed in looks, nods and winks among themselves. They hold an infectious rapport with the audience, who loved them loudly, and appreciated them with much clapping, shouting and stamping of feet until they returned to the stage to sing a final song in the shape of Robert Palmer’s Bad Case of Loving You! A band of
good-looking boys who can play and sing and communicate, and hold an entire audience for weeks after the event.
DRIFTWOOD are well worth seeing if you want to be spellbound and want to feel you have had a great night out.
