Introduction
The Apprentice Floyds formed in October 2009 at the request of OXJAM in Brecon. Five musicians from Brecon pooled their enthusiasm for Pink Floyd's music and within a couple of rehearsals pulled off an amazingly charged evening of Floyd songs.
Since then The Apprentice Floyds has attracted the attention of several promotion companies to do other gigs...but without sucesss. "We have been far too busy", says John Eyre (keyboard and Guitarist). This year (2010) the band has reformed to do more gigs in the Brecon and neighbouring areas. "Though we love Pink Floyd music we don't want to be regarded as a tribute band" says Steve Brooks (Drummer). So recently the Apprentice Floyds are doing two sets. The first set is all Eagles then after a ten minute break they rock into a much more extended Pink Floyd set. "That way we cater for two genres in one evening and it seems to work. We have just done a Friday night gig at the Markets Tavern in Brecon and it was the biggest turn out for live music that they have ever had!" says Billy Strangward (Lead Guitarist).
Four of the members all belong to other bands and Jim Margetts is always busy with his other projects such as running www.gigall.co.uk. So if a venue wants to book us then please book early. "We will be taking bookings again from this July 2010 onwards", says Mark McCarthy.
